Recycled glass table

My father worked as a Construction Superintendent for F. W. Woolworth Company.  He was in charge of building new stores and remodeled all of the older ones.  Needless to say, there was always leftover material’s that would be discarded.  Bless his heart, he would ALWAYS bring all of these items to our home to re-cycle.  Luckily we lived on acreage, so he built sheds for storage and to hide the materials out of site ( per my Mom’s request)  All of my siblings and friends  have used these materials through the years and I inherited his gene for not wanting to waste.  As I have grown older, I wonder if that is a good trait or not?  I, as he, have built up quite a stockpile of stuff.

If you know me, you know I love thrift stores.  I found this small table for $4.00 and decided I would cover it with glass samples that I had saved.   If you check  at your local tile stores and ask them to save you discontinued samples, most would be happy to do so.

Directions:

1. Clean table with a soft bristle brush.
2. Paint one coat of Annie Sloan color graphite.  Let dry overnight.
3. Lightly sand in area’s you want to have a distressed look.
4. Apply Annie Sloan Clear Wax; buff.
5. Lay glass in the desired pattern.  Dot back of each piece of glass with Liquid Nails Adhesive and apply to table top.  Let dry overnight.
6. Apply grout in desired color.  Clean as you go with a wet sponge.

Note:  I used Custom Brand Fusion Pro Single Component Grout because of the stain and crack resistance and it is premixed.  Any grout can be used for this project.
