DIY: Floor cloth

I have always loved floor cloth’s and I always kept it on my “to do” list. But, the thought of having to draw a pattern and paint the cloth kept moving this project to the back of the list and has never been accomplished. That is, never accomplished until I came across this idea on Pinterest posted by Design Share. I don’t know about you but I am ADDICTED to Pinterest. I love how talented and creative people are and thankful that they share their idea’s with us…… Anyway, this is the easiest project that I have tried lately. I am very happy with the outcome, so happy matter of fact that I made 2 in one weekend.

  • 1 round printed tablecloth. (I found one at the thrift store for $2.00 and one at Target on sale for $6.00)
  • 1 gallon WATER BASED satin polyurethane (I had 2 cloths to paint)
  • 1 sponge roller and pan
  • 1 drop cloth

floor cloth 2

Directions:

Paint with a sponge roller, 3-4 coats of polyurethane, drying in between each coat. When applying first coat, lift cloth several times to keep from sticking to drop cloth.

Note: cloth will wrinkle slightly during first coat but will smooth out in drying time, just stretch the fabric from time to time while rolling the paint.
