DIY: Mercury Glass Lamp

I needed new bedroom lamps and decided to give a go with transforming one of the brass lamps that I found at a thrift store for $6.00. The shade and the shape of the lamp is nice but I hated the brass color. I decided to try making it look like mercury glass even though it is not a glass lamp, using some of the ideas on Pinterest. I am quite happy with the outcome. It may not look exactly like mercury glass but it does give the lamp a aged patina which I love.

Directions:

1. Clean the lamp with a damp soft cloth. Let dry.
2. Spray a mixture of 50% water and 50% vinegar lightly on the entire lamp
   base.
3. While the mixture is still wet, spray in short spurts with the Valspar Metallic paint until thoroughly coated.
4. Let dry overnight.
5. Buff with a soft cloth, rubbing the bubbles until smooth.
