We are so excited to be adding Barn Quilts to our inventory. I remembered seeing them on our vacation years back while visiting the Amish country and started doing a little research.
Barn quilts are a large piece of wood that are painted to look like a quilt block. The size of the squares vary, but usually they are 8 feet and hung on the exterior of a barn, house, garage or other building.
The earliest versions of barn quilts have been around for hundred of years and each pattern, just like fabric quilts, have their own history. They started showing up again in the early 2000s and now they vary in many sizes and patterns. There is even a quilt trail that consist of many barn quilts that are mapped together and visited using a map that marks all the locations. Today there are quilt trails all over the United States.
